formatting4U.com is an author services company that offers soup-to-nuts, a la carte services for indie-publishing your book, whichever format you need–fiction, non-fiction, memoir, workbook, poetry, picture book, children’s book, coloring book, audiobooks, etc. Editing, formatting, uploading, cover design, promotional material design, ISBN and copyright registration, audio book narration/production, and general consultation services available. These prices are for works of fiction with word counts of 90,000 and less (additional $10 per 10,000 word increments–not $1 per 1000 words), include platform-specific copyright wording, and assume proper MSWord formatting for the source document. Quotes will be given prior to any charges for manuscripts that do not have proper MS formatting and for non-fiction manuscripts, and are good for 30 days. Prices subject to change.

*TNR 12 pt font, single-spaced is standard, but if you have a special request, I will work with you. Standard print layout includes headers and page numbers, continuous chapter flow. Headers are: author name on left pages, aligned on left margin, title on right hand pages, right-aligned, unless title is long enough to distract reading experience, in which case I typically center it on all pages for continuity. Page numbers centered on bottom. Navigational Table of Contents (TOC) included for digital files; hyperlinked at beginning of book or print TOC incur extra charges.

1.) Editing: Pricing/time estimates given prior to contract approval.

• Copy edit: grammar, spelling, punctuation, word usage, proofing: $2.75 per page: 1″ margins, 8.5″ x 11″ page, double-spaced, TNR 12
• Full story edit: structure, pacing, story, characterization:  quote generated upon submission of computer page count, first seven pages, and synopsis of up to 5 pages. This does not include fact-checking or foreign language corrections.

2.) Series logo creation, quoted based upon scope, image count.

3.) PDF Conversion to text: must be delivered in one PDF file.   Starts at $50 based on file size/complexity of project. Clean-up extra.

(Client must then proof/format document into usable word file. This service is only for converting to text, but formatting into Word pricing is available upon request.)

4.)  Cover creation: A quote will be generated after discussion of what is involved, plus the cost of cover art which you will own. Full Print-On-Demand cover, just the back, and/or electronic front cover available. See the link for Covers on the right. Price is for one print layout only–KDP or Ingram. If both required, there is an additional charge. Author will purchase cover art stock from site, and will, therefore own the artwork upon project completion. Author will also own the cover, but http://www.formatting4U.com requires a listing on the copyright page as creator of the cover, to say: Cover Creation by http://www.formatting4U.com with an active hyperlink to this site. A mock-up cover based on your specs will be forwarded and tweaked three times at the quoted price. Any other adjustments will be on a fee-per-service basis to be quoted prior to work being completed. http://www.formatting4U.com retains the right to include the cover as part of our portfolio and will be showcased on the website without any remuneration to the author. Payment for cover services assumes agreement with this practice. Please note: I do not use Photoshop.

5.)  Want your picture/children’s book in an electronic format in addition to print? We can do (and have done) it beautifully! Pricing based on length, #s of images, etc. Please be advised that certain platforms have file size limitations. Contact http://www.formatting4U.com via the link on the right for a quote.

6.) Promotional Materials – banners, bookmarks, postcards, rack brochures, etc. Contact us for a quote.

7.) Publishing platform account creation assistance available.

8.) Copyright assistance available. Please note that the US Copyright Office charges a fee that is paid directly to them during the copyright registration process and will require a credit card. This is in addition to http://www.formatting4U.com’s fee to register the copyright on your behalf in your copyright account.

9.) Audio book services available, from narration to editing, mastering, uploading, and cover design. ACX and/or Author’s Republic or Findaway Voices platforms serviced. Contact for a quote.

PAYMENT:

Full payment due to begin work, non-refundable and final. Payment of invoice constitutes acceptance of Terms of Service.

Terms and conditions/Terms of Service:

Payment plus 6% fee can be made via credit card, Zelle, Venmo or PayPal and a receipt will be emailed. Discuss for check payment. Funds due upon receipt. All sales final. All formatting pricing assumes delivery from client of publish-ready manuscript(s): ready to be read, no typos, errors, omissions, etc., including all front and back matter (Dedication, Title Page, Table of Contents, Acknowledgments, Book list, Author’s Note, Author Bio, 300 dpi black and white author photo, reviews, back cover copy/blurb, etc.) in order in a .doc or .docx format. Corrections/spellcheck/grammar/ MS formatting issues will incur additional charges and will be discussed prior to work being completed. formatting4U.com will deliver a clean copy for review, but client holds ultimate responsibility to proof the work. Formatting errors are corrected free of charge. TimesNewRoman 12 pt font is standard, with author name in the header on left hand/back/verso and title on right hand/front/recto page, and page numbers centered in footer; any changes desired need to be discussed prior to start of project. Client will send and receive files via client file on dropbox.com. All books formatted by formatting4U.com will contain a listing on the copyright page, saying Layout Design by www.formatting4U.com with an active hyperlink to our site. For covers designed by formatting4U.com: Author will provide artwork or purchase cover art stock, and will, therefore, own the artwork upon project completion. Author will also own the cover, but formatting4U.com requires a listing on the copyright page as creator of the cover, to say Cover Creation by http://www.formatting4U.com with an active hyperlink to our site. All files will be the property of the client and, as such, must be backed-up/saved on the client’s computer(s)/server(s). Timelines for files going live are at the discretion of the various retailers and formatting4U.com cannot be held accountable, including pre-order setup. All sales are non-refundable and final. formatting4U.com’s editorial services are not a guarantee for publication or an offer of representation, nor is there any implied impact on sales/royalties by author. Any editorial services are priced on a one-through price; subsequent run-throughs incur more charges. For multi-author collaboration, formatting4U.com will communicate ONLY with the ONE person signing this agreement. Any business arrangement between authors is their responsibility.
